대구음악협회가 주최하는 제41회 대구국제성악콩쿠르 유럽예선 경연이 지난 7일부터 8일까지 이탈리아 밀라노 베르디 국립음악원 푸치니홀에서 열렸다.

유럽 예선 경연은 이탈리아, 독일, 오스트리아, 중국, 등 세계 젊은 성악가들과 한국 유학생 대상으로 유럽예선을 진행했다. 다양한 국적을 가진 유럽 예선 참가자 47명 중에서 심사를 통해 성악가 5명이 본선 진출에 성공했다.

이번 유럽 예선과 관련해 콩쿠르 주최 측은 지난해에 이어 올해도 토마소 사치 밀라노 시청 문화부시장과 간담회를 하기도 했다. 사치 부시장은 "제도적, 문화적으로 많이 닮아있는 밀라노와 대구가 대구국제성악콩쿠르 유럽예선 대회를 통해 세계 재능있는 성악인의 발굴과 두 도시의 관광을 활성화하는 데 기여할 것"이라고 축하했다. 주밀라노한국총영사관 강형식 총영사도 국제콩쿠르 개최를 축하했다.

올해 콩쿠르 본선 심사는 미국·이탈리아·러시아·독일·한국·일본·중국 등의 세계적인 권위자를 심사위원으로 선정했다. 특히 '미국의 마리아 칼라스'로 불리며, 벨칸토 오페라부터 푸치니, 이탈리아 오페라를 넘어 바그너에 이르는 폭넓은 레퍼토리를 소화한 당대 최고의 소프라노 쉐릴 스투더도 심사위원으로 참여한다.

제41회 대구국제성악콩쿠르는 오는 8월4일부터 5일까지 대구콘서트하우스에서 한국 예선을 거친 뒤 8월25일 대구오페라하우스에서 본선 경연이 치러질 예정이다. 대상을 포함해 최대 16명에게 시상하며, 대상은 2천만원의 상금과 문화체육부장관상을 수상하게 된다. 더불어 수상자에게는 대구오페라하우스와 서울시 오페라단 공연 주·조역 데뷔의 특전이 주어진다. 대구콘서트하우스에서 콩쿠르 수상자 음악회도 가질 예정이다.

“The European preliminary round of the 41st Daegu International Vocal Music Competition was held at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Italy earlier this month”

 

The 41st Daegu International Vocal Music Competition, hosted by the Daegu Music Association, was held from the 7th to the 8th at the Puccini Hall of the Verdi National Conservatory in Milan, Italy.

The European Preliminary Contest was conducted for young singers from around the world, such as Italy, Germany, Austria, and China, as well as Korean students. Among 47 European qualifiers of various nationalities, 5 singers succeeded in advancing to the finals through screening.

Regarding the European qualifiers, the organizers of the competition held a meeting with Tommaso Sachi, the deputy mayor of culture at Milan City Hall, this year as well as last year. Deputy Mayor Sachi congratulated, “The Daegu International Vocal Competition European Preliminary Contest will contribute to discovering world-talented singers and revitalizing tourism in the two cities, as Milan and Daegu, which are institutionally and culturally similar, will be held.” Kang Hyeong-sik, Consul General of the Korean Consulate General in Milan, also congratulated the opening of the international competition.

This year's final round of the competition selected world-renowned experts from the United States, Italy, Russia, Germany, Korea, Japan, and China as judges. In particular, Cheryl Studer, the best soprano of the time, who has performed a wide range of repertoire from bel canto opera to Puccini, Italian opera to Wagner, who is called 'Maria Callas of America', will also participate as a judge.

The 41st Daegu International Vocal Competition will be held at the Daegu Concert House from August 4th to 5th, followed by the Korean preliminary round, and the final contest will be held at the Daegu Opera House on August 25th. Up to 16 people, including the grand prize, will be awarded, and the grand prize will receive a prize money of 20 million won and the Minister of Culture and Sports Award. In addition, the winners will be given the privilege of debuting in the main and assistant roles in performances by the Daegu Opera House and the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. There will also be a concert for winners of the competition at the Daegu Concert House.
